Upcoming Event: One-man play entitled “The Miner’s Tale”

Robert Thomas Hughes is scheduled to present his forty-minute, one man-play entitled ‘The Miner’s Tale’ on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at 2pm at the Thomas T. Taber Museum of the Lycoming County Historical Society. The play is open and free to the public, but advance reservations are requested.

The play recounts the lives of the miners of Northeastern Pennsylvania with Hughes portraying an Italian immigrant mine worker who seeks to organize a miners’ union and a mine owner who believes he has been victimized by the union, a miner who frequents saloons, an Irishmen who despises his work, and a Slovak father who attempts to raise a family of seven children.

Mr. Hughes has performed throughout the region in a long-list of plays and performances. Among Hughes’ characterizations are his portrayals as actor John Barrymore in “Barrymore’s Ghost” and as playwright Jason Miller in a biographical play, “Go Irish! The Purgatory Diaries of Jason Miller.” Further information will be available nearer the time of the performance.
