The Tumbleweed Trio appeared for a special Sunday afternoon performance at the Taber Museum on March 30, 2025. The Trio performed America’s cowboy songs, from the 1800s Old West to the twentieth century’s golden age of cowboy movie heroes, for a packed crowd. For this special Taber Museum program, they told some of the “stories behind the songs”.
The Trio is composed of Gary “Doc” Stoner, Richard Rupert and “Miss Alison” Rupert. The three are best friends and band-mates from The MidLife Cowboys Band and The Alison Wonderband. As the Tumbleweed Trio, they sang and played cowboy classics such as “Back in the Saddle Again”, “Don’t Fence Me In”, and “Red River Valley” - with guitars, fiddle, authentic three-part vocal harmony and even a bit of yodeling.
