the jewelry store

As its holiday offering for the 2017-2018 season, the Thomas T. Taber Museum featured the miniature room settings created by Becky Bird in the exhibit, Honey, I Shrunk the Rooms at the Taber. The exhibit was home to approximately one hundred room settings, many of which reflect Colonial America, Victorian, and Jacobean style arrangements.

Throughout the tour, guests had the opportunity to nominate their favorite settings of the collection by completing a brief survey of their five favorite rooms. Honey, I Shrunk the Rooms at the Taber was featured from December 7, 2017 through January 20, 2018 which allowed over a month of votes to be cast to determine the best-liked settings of the exhibit.

Following the conclusion of the temporary display, votes were tallied which revealed that the community determined their favored rooms were (in order): the jewelry store, the Beatrix Potter room, the silversmith shop, the cake shop, and the billiards/wine and cheese room (tied for fifth place).

Ms. Bird’s exquisite displays were graciously donated to the Taber Museum as she noted this as a chance ‘to return a gift to the community, to bring joy to children and the child-like in heart and to evoke memories’.

The cabinets have been removed to the Small Meeting Room and are available for viewing.
