Etta Alice Neff Etta Alice Neff was born June 17, 1891 in Larryville, Lycoming County. As a young woman, she enrolled and graduated from the Rochester General Hospital Nursing School and was almost immediately sent to Vichy, France during World War I. Not only was war raging, but the outbreak of the deadly Spanish Influenza had erupted. If only her diary or letters would surface, we might know more about the trials and tribulations she faced! She was discharged in 1919 and it seems she led a quiet life after the war. She married William Gooding and the marriage produced one child, who died as an infant. She lived to be 104 years old.

At the Lycoming County Historical Society, we would like to know how you have faced the Covid-19 Pandemic. Has it touched your family or friends? How did you spend your time? Did you continue to work during the Pandemic or were you furloughed? What could you absolutely not live without? We are going to start a collection of materials- including the Sun-Gazette, written reminiscences, face masks, reports, etc… We would be honored to have your material among those archived items. You can contact us at lchsdirector@verizon.net or lchscurator@verizon.net.
