Richard SproutOn October 10, 2024, Richard Sprout recounted the history of Picture Rocks in his lecture, “Picture Rocks in Pictures - Past and Present" to a packed house at a Taber Museum Coffee Hour.

Picture Rocks, a borough in the northeastern corner of Lycoming County, was founded in 1848 on land purchased by Amos Burrows and his nephew Asa R. Sprout. They planned on using the water power of Muncy Creek to run a planing mill for the manufacture of window sash and door frames.

Richard (Rick) Sprout is a retired high school science teacher and history buff who enjoys giving local history presentations. Rick is a direct descendant of the founders of the borough.

The Coffee Hour was underwritten by a generous grant from VanCampen Motors.
