The Taber Museum recently sponsored a bus trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Board members Connie Phillips and Mary Holstein reported the following about the successful trip:
As you can see from the photo, we had a great time at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on June 14th! We left Williamsport at 5:30 am with 50 people and returned with the same 50 people just after 10 pm.
The museum exhibits were well worth the trip. The costumes spanned several centuries of fashion, up to current day examples. The silver exhibit was fascinating and included exquisite six foot tall silver candlesticks. There was enough time after visiting the special exhibits to enjoy the other sections of the museum. After enjoying examples of works by Klimt, Vermeer, Pollock, and others, one could enjoy early American furniture, Greek vases, and Egyptian temples and statues. There was something for everyone.
By the end of the day we were filled with visions of what we had seen, and we were tired! Another trip is being planned, so watch for more information.
