In 2015, the Lycoming County Historical Society established the Michael Ross Society as a way to recognize those most generous donors who give to the Society's Annual Support Campaign.

Michael Ross is credited as one of the founders of the Borough of Williamsport at the end of the Eighteenth Century. It was therefore fitting to establish such a Society to recognize the founder of Williamsport. Ross would be amazed at the development of the small borough he knew to the regional center we now call home. He would most assuredly welcome the efforts of the Society to preserve his heritage and document and protect the history of Williamsport and Lycoming County.

The Historical Society has been very active in recent years. We have introduced new programs featuring many fascinating cultural aspects of our rich local heritage. We have welcomed the Shutterbugs and the Bald Eagle Art League as the venue for their meetings and special exhibits. Executive Director, Gary Parks, has become an active, capable and cheerful ambassador for the LCHS and its Thomas T. Taber Museum throughout our county and beyond. The Society's lecture series are well attended and informative.

The financial condition of the Lycoming County Historical Society has been on solid ground thanks in large measure to the kind support of community minded citizens, who recognize the importance of preserving our history, and through the foresight and diligence of our Board of Governors being mindful of the most efficient and effective use of funds.

In order to maintain our high standards, the Society must continue to raise funds in our annual support campaigns to meet our general operating expenses. This is why the Board of Governors created the Michael Ross Society. The success of this effort will guarantee a bright and promising future for the LCHS and its Taber Museum.

We invite you to join us in this outreach, and we heartily encourage you to participate at a leadership level by joining the Michael Ross Society. All Michael Ross Society members receive recognition in the Society's publications. Simply click on the "Donate Now" button, above.
