On Friday, December 7, the Museum celebrated the formal opening of the holiday exhibit, titled Skates, Sleds, Sleighs, and Stockings: The Taber Holiday Exhibit. LCHS Members were invited to share sweet treats and to view the newly opened exhibit.
At the same time, members were given the first opportunity to shop at the holiday gift shop, set up in the community room. The shop featured Christmas ornaments produced by some of the area’s most talented artists. Glass snowmen, pinecones, stained glass, Pysanky eggs, pine needles, sleds, and Santa Clauses were offered in the shop.
The featured artist Jackie Thomas offered intricately-woven loblolly (“Jack”) pine needle medallions. Other artists who participated were Deb Parsons, Sally Cohick, Nadine Sapiente, Mike Swanger, Tammy Daneker, Catheal Weiser, Mickey Mapstone, James Meckley, and Linda Campbell.
The Museum sold chances on four framed prints which featured the artwork of Tasha Tudor and Jessie Willcox Smith. The winners were selected at the end of the Weekend event.
