Williamsport- The Thomas T. Taber Museum of the Lycoming County Historical Society will host an America250 program on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 2pm, with an appearance by President Theodore “Teddy’ Roosevelt. The lecture will be held in the Community Room and is free and open to the public.
President Roosevelt was the twenty-sixth President of the United States and began serving at the age of forty-two. He was a man of many interests, serving as a champion of the conservation of natural resources. He established one hundred fifty national forests, five national parks and placed 230 million acres under Federal protection. He served as President of the American Historical Association but also ranched in the West, hunted on several continents, was an avid reader, and penned thousands of letters. The audience will find him a fascinating man.
The Lecture Series which continues throughout the year is sponsored by Catherine Burns Insurance Services, Muncy. As well, the Series is co-sponsored by a Travel and Tourism Grant from the Lycoming County Visitors Bureau. The Lecture Series features a number of exciting programs and reenactors to celebrate the history and heritage of the country’s 250th birthday.
The museum is located at 858 West Fourth Street, Williamsport. There is ample parking behind the museum or at Trinity Church as well as on the street. We anticipate a large crowd!
