On Sunday, May 16, at 2pm, the Historical Society will feature Tim Yarrington, instructor at the Pennsylvania College of Technology. His talk will be “The Piracy of Brewing: How Brewers Exploit Natural Systems for Personal Pleasure and Financial Gain.”

The brewing and fermentation science certificate offered by Penn College and taught by Yarrington was recently recognized by the Master Brewers Association of the Americas. It is the only program in the northeast United States and only one of fourteen to receive this designation. The talk is one of several events to highlight the return of the popular Bottles and Brews at the Taber Friday, August 13, 2021.

The lecture will be the fourth of fourteen lectures throughout the year, combining the Thursday morning Coffee Hours with Sunday afternoon Society Programs. Although the entire series of lectures is not yet in place, it will focus on historical topics with a few hands-on experiences. The programs are free and open to the public, however, social distancing is enforced and the use of face masks is mandatory.

The Museum is located at 858 West Fourth Street, Williamsport. Please contact the museum at 570.326.3326.
