FranklinWilliamsport: The public is invited to meet Benjamin Franklin, making a rare appearance at the Thomas T. Taber Museum of the Lycoming County Historical Society on Saturday, May 16 at 4pm. Mr. Franklin will appear courtesy of America250 with grant monies from the Lycoming County Visitors’ Bureau Travel and Tourism Grant and the Catherine Burns Insurance Services of Muncy. The meeting will be held in the Community Room and the presentation is free and open to the public.

Benjamin Franklin will be portrayed by Virginia resident Barry Stevens. As quoted in the Christian Science Monitor, Mr. Stevens has been portraying the famous statesman for several decades. Initially, he attended reenactments in period-appropriate costume and grew a ponytail. Soon thereafter, “People would come up to me and they’d say, ‘Hi, Ben, how are things in Philadelphia? No sign, no name tag, nothing that I did to try and elicit that kind of a response…” He embraced the role, recently portrayed Benjamin Franklin in the 2025 docudrama, “The American Miracle.”
