Meg Smith ornamentThe Taber Museum is inviting members of the community to a number of special events during the month of December. A Holiday Jewel Box at a County Gem: Quilts, Silver and Jade at the Taber, the Museum’s holiday exhibit, will open on Friday, December 4. A public preview of the exhibit will be held Friday evening, December 4, 7:00 until 8:30pm. The exhibit will feature a number of quilts produced by the talented artisan Wendy Etzel. In part, her quilts feature the mansions on Millionaires’ Row as constructed in fabric and lace. Silver and jade objets will also be on display, drawn from the private Eccles Hall collection. The exhibit continues through Saturday, January 16, 2021.

On the evening of December 4th, the Museum is also hosting its third annual Ornament Sale, an opportunity to purchase ornaments made by some of the most talented area artists. The ornaments will include a selection of stained glass, Ukrainian eggs, fiber arts, lampworked glass, pottery, felted ornaments, calligraphy, and loblolly pine medallions. The featured artist Meg Smith will be offering a jeweled ornament in silver and gemstones, including jade. Her ornaments will be a limited edition ornament found only at the Taber. Other artists highlighted will be Deb Parsons, Nadine Sapiente, Mike Swanger, Tammy Daneker, Catheal Weiser, Mickey Mapstone, Sara Kiehl, Jackie Thomas and Linda Campbell.

The ornament sale will continue on Saturday, December 5, from 11am until 4pm and Sunday, December 6, 1pm-4pm. The weekend will also provide the opportunity for the public to view the Museum’s holiday exhibit free of charge.

Face masks are required and social distancing is strongly urged.
