Williamsport- The second annual ornament sale will be held at the Taber Museum, 858 West Fourth Street, Williamsport, during the weekend of December 6-8. The sale will feature the work of some of the most talented artists in Lycoming County.
The sale, to be held in the Community Room of the museum, will take place on Friday, December 6, from 7:00-9:00pm, Saturday, December 7, from 11:00am until 4:00pm, and Sunday, December 8, from 1:00-4:00pm.
The sale includes a diverse grouping of talented artists who have created limited edition and one-of-a-kind ornaments for sale, each sale benefitting the museum. The artists include: Mike Swanger, with blown glass friendship balls and icicles; Linda Campbell, stoneware pottery sleds and snowflakes; Mickey Mapstone, fabric budgies; Sally Cohick, papier-mache Santas and snowmen; Jackie Thomas, felted ornaments, fiber ornaments, and Loblolly pine needle coiled ornaments; Nadine Sapiente, stained glass snowmen and snowflakes; and Deb Parsons with lampwork (torchwork) glass angels, snowmen and icicles. In addition to the ornaments, a holiday boutique will feature other works created by the artists including jewelry, pottery, silk scarves and sculpture.
This year’s featured artist is Deb Parsons with her 2019 limited edition ornament:a circus elephant reflecting the theme of the museum’s holiday exhibit, “When the Circus Comes to Town.”The holiday exhibit will feature a Humpty Dumpty Circus, c. 1900, created by the Schoenhut Manufacturing Company, a selection of vintage toys, stuffed animals, circus posters, a number of carousel music boxes, a selection of miniature carousel horses, and figurines of well-known clown Emmett Kelly. The exhibit will open December 4, 2019 and continue through Saturday, January 18, 2020.
