Taber Museum Hosted Coffee Hour Featuring A Showing Of ‘The Pajama Game’

The Pajama GameThe Thomas T. Taber Museum of the Lycoming County Historical Society hosted its second 2016 Coffee Hour on Thursday, April 14 in the Community Room of the Taber with a showing of the film ‘The Pajama Game’.  The free movie showing was open to the public and light refreshments, including popcorn, were served

The film explored the relationship between factory managers and factory workers when they clash over the demand for a ‘seven and a half cents’ raise. The film stared Doris Day as Katie ‘Babe’ Williams and features John Raitt, Carol Haney, Eddie Foy Jr. and Reta Shaw. The Sleep Tite Pajama Factory in the film resembles the Weldon Pajama Factory of Lycoming County. In fact, officials from the movie production team visited the Weldon Pajama Factory in preparation of the movie. At one time, the Weldon Pajama Factory was the largest of its kind in the world and now provides studio space for a number of artists and artisans.

The movie delighted those who had seen it for the first or for the tenth time.
