The Thomas T. Taber Museum of the Lycoming County Historical Society chronicles the history of our region from American Indian occupation through 20th century industry and life.

Summer Day Camp 2015

This year, the museum’s History Day Camp will be held Monday, August 3 through Friday, August 7, 2015, from 9:00a.m. till noon.

This year’s theme is the American Civil War and life in the 19th century. Each day will have a theme with a variety of activities that promote learning in a fun, relaxed, structured atmosphere.

This program is designed for children from ages 8-12.  Space is limited, as this is a one week only program.

Lesson plans are still being created and subject to change, but some tentative activities include Civil War reenactors, a tour of the Rowley House Museum, haunted history, etiquette of the Victorian Era, fun crafts, soldier games and past times, a museum scavenger hunt, and more!

For LCHS members, the cost is $60 per child. The fee is $70 per child for non-members. Payment in full reserves your child’s space. If you would like to charge it to your Visa/Master Card account, please phone the museum at 570-326-3326 or visit the museum with the information. No matter how you choose to pay, we need this application returned to LCHS by July 29, 2015 to guarantee your child’s space.

Because of costs incurred during camp preparation, no refunds will be given after July 22, 2015. A $10 processing fee per application will be retained from all refunds. Thank you.

Andrea Campbell, this year’s day camp coordinator, holds a Master of Arts degree in history from the University of Nebraska.  She is also the Vice President of the North Central Chapter for the Society of Pennsylvania Archaeology, a communications facilitator in the local school districts, and a valued member of the Taber Museum’s staff.

For businesses:

We are seeking donations from local businesses to help make our day camp a success. As a non-profit, we strive to offer the community educational and affordable events that are accessible to everyone. Your donation not only helps to keep the tuition cost down to almost half of what other summer camps charge, but also enables us to offer more variety in the week’s activities.

All businesses that donate will be thanked in the museum’s newsletter, and a receipt with the museum’s non-profit number will be provided for tax purposes.
