The Historical Society’s Lecture Series focused on ‘Communities’ for the 2017 season, combining Coffee Hours (Thursday mornings, March through June, September through December) with Society Programs (Sunday afternoons, May through October). A total of fourteen lectures were presented throughout the year.

The Thomas T. Taber Museum will be featuring exquisitely-rendered miniature room settings as its holiday offering this year. Young and old, female and male, child or childlike, will enjoy approximately ninety room settings created by Williamsport native Becky Bird.

The weekend before Thanksgiving was anything but slow at the Taber Museum. Not only was the Museum one of the stops on the Preservation Williamsport Victorian Christmas tour, but the Community Room was alive the sounds of toy trains from the Will Huffman Toy Train Expo.

The fifth annual Richard L. and Miriam L. Swan Mix Student Historian Award competition invites seniors attending schools in Lycoming County to submit an essay which describes and interprets an object, artifact, or an exhibit displayed at the Historical Society's Taber Museum. The winner will be awarded a cash prize of $500.

The newly acquired Tall Case Clock was purchased by the Williamsport National Bank for the Board Room of the Bank in 1918. It was through the generosity of the BB&T Bank that the clock now resides permanently at the Lycoming County Historical Society.

The Taber Museum has accepted a gift from James Messner of Williamsport, of a 1926 Studebaker . The vehicle is on display at Williamsport's Peter Herdic Transportation Museum.

Gift of Dr. Michael & Mrs. Rickie Gross - ceramic soup tureen and undertray was made in Staffordshire, England by Thomas Godwin and features a scene of William Penn negotiating a treaty with the Lenape Indians at Shackamaxon village

Through the generosity of Mrs. Joyce Lundy Rhodes and her brother Dr. Donald R. Lundy, Jr., the Lycoming County Historical Society has received a number of items from the former veterinary office of the senior Dr. Lundy.

The lobby of Williamsport City Hall now contains a display of "Harvest" themed articles from the collection of the Taber Museum.
