Lost Coal Country of Northeastern PennsylvaniaThe Thomas T. Taber Museum of the Lycoming County Historical Society is pleased to present author and photographer Lorena Beniquez at a special lecture and book-signing on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 2pm. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Lorena Beniquez captures the oral and physical history of the anthracite region in Lost Coal Country of Northeastern Pennsylvania (Arcadia Publishing). Although the great-granddaughter of a coal miner, Beniquez knew little of her family’s history in the mines, she set out on a journey to recover not only her own history but that of countless other families. Lost Coal Country of Northeastern Pennsylvania documents the region’s disappearing history which shaped the legacy of the United States of America and the Industrial Revolution. In addition to being a history book, this is also a field guide to the heritage sites that still remain including the state’s last coal breaker.

The book will be available in the Museum Store and will be available for the book-signing which will immediately follow the lecture.
