Bottles & Brews II


Williamsport- The Thomas T. Taber Museum of the Lycoming County Historical Society will be holding ‘Bottles & Brews II’ on Friday, August 8, 2014, from 7pm until 10pm. Attendees will be able to taste a number of craft beers and wines from the area as well as sampling the product of several regional and national brewmasters and vintners. Tickets are $25 per person and are in limited supply. The tickets may be obtained from the museum during operational hours and also through PayPal through this page.

Participating in the event will be craft beer brewers of the Billtown Brewers Guild, Riepstine’s Pub, the Bullfrog Brewery, Abbey Wright Brewery, and the Moon and Raven Pub. Joining them will be craft brewers from Sam Adams and the Pennsylvania-based Yuengling and Straub’s. As well, the Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company, a fairly-new enterprise will be joining the evening’s festivities from Croydon, Pennsylvania. Vintners include the Bastress Mountain Winery and their affiliated Mountain Top Distillery and ECM Cellars. To add to the delight of the participants, foods will be offered from Erb’s Catering, Franco’s, the Herdic House and the Moon and Raven Pub. An additional array of finger foods will be supplied courtesy of Wegman’s and members of the Board of Governors.

Musical entertainment will punctuate the evening, featuring the talents of Sean Farley, Doug McMinn, Leah Nason, and Justin and Jaclyn Lutz. Guests will be able to examine the exhibit, “Brews and Birds” which highlights Flock’s Brewing Company, a Williamsport-based brewing company of the first half of the twentieth century. Koch’s Brewery and Star Brewing Company memorabilia are included in the exhibit. Displayed materials are from the permanent collections of the Historical Society as well as several private collections. The exhibit is enhanced with decoys and carvings produced by decoy-makers of the Susquehanna River area including Ross Smoker, Caz Russell, Jimmy Frey, Jeffrey Keiffer, and Nelson Fry. The entire museum will be open for touring that evening. ‘Buckets of Cheer’ will be raffled off during the evening.

This event is held as a fundraiser for the museum. The inaugural year 2013 witnessed over 250 people to the event. Potential attendees are urged to buy their tickets in advance as there might not be any tickets available at the door.

The Taber Museum is located at 858 West Fourth Street, Williamsport. Ample parking is available behind the building or on the street.
